Psychological Testing & Evaluation

PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTING · OMAHA, NE

Psychological Testing & Evaluation in Omaha

Validated psychological assessment for diagnostic clarity, school accommodations, and workplace requests — comprehensive written report.

Sometimes the question is clinical: is this ADHD or anxiety? Is this a learning disability or something else? Is this an autism presentation or a social-communication challenge with a different root? Sometimes the question is operational: I need a current evaluation for school accommodations, for a workplace request, for a prescriber’s diagnostic clarity. Thrivion Mental Wellness provides structured psychological testing in Omaha for adults and adolescents — validated cognitive, personality, and achievement instruments, integrated diagnostic interpretation, and a written evaluation report you can use. We’re talk-therapy only — no prescribing — but the testing produces the clinical foundation that makes everything else operational. The first conversation is free.

WAIS-IV / WISC-V cognitive testing, MMPI-3 and PAI personality assessment, achievement testing (WIAT-4), and validated diagnostic instruments-based treatment. In-network with Nebraska Total Care, Molina Healthcare, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. The first conversation is free.

WHAT IT FEELS LIKE

When psychological testing actually helps.

Psychological testing answers questions that clinical interviews and self-report alone can’t. The structured instruments — cognitive batteries like the WAIS-IV (adults) or WISC-V (children/adolescents), personality assessments like the MMPI-3 or PAI, achievement tests like the WIAT-4 — produce standardized data with established norms. That standardization is the value. A clinician’s impression is one data point; a validated psychological evaluation is dozens, integrated into a written diagnostic picture you can actually use.

Psychological testing at Thrivion Mental Wellness is appropriate for clients who need diagnostic clarity that goes beyond what therapy alone provides — typically because a downstream decision (school accommodations, workplace requests, treatment planning, prescriber consultation) requires documented evidence rather than clinical opinion.

The evaluation is a defined-scope clinical project: an intake interview, a structured testing battery, integration of the data, and a written report. It’s not ongoing care. It’s a focused process that produces a concrete deliverable — the written evaluation report.

Sound familiar? These are the patterns we see most often:

·Need a current psychological evaluation for school 504 or IEP requests
·Workplace or college disability office requires recent testing documentation
·Multiple co-occurring conditions and treatment planning needs diagnostic clarity
·Adult suspecting late-diagnosed ADHD, autism, or learning disability
·Parent of an adolescent whose school performance has dropped and the cause is unclear
·Prescriber requesting evaluation prior to diagnosis or medication adjustment
·Pre-employment or fitness-for-duty evaluation requirement
·Want to distinguish between conditions that look similar but treat differently (anxiety vs OCD vs ADHD)

WHAT WE TREAT

Types of psychological testing we offer at Thrivion.

Psychological testing isn’t a single battery — different referral questions require different instruments. At Thrivion we calibrate the testing battery to the question you’re asking. Here are the most common configurations:

Cognitive (IQ) Testing

Cognitive testing — the WAIS-IV for adults or WISC-V for children and adolescents — produces a comprehensive intellectual profile across verbal comprehension, perceptual reasoning, working memory, and processing speed. Cognitive testing is appropriate for giftedness evaluation, learning disability diagnostic work, intellectual disability documentation, and as part of broader neuropsych-style batteries.

Personality Assessment

Personality assessment — typically the MMPI-3 (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory) or the PAI (Personality Assessment Inventory) — produces a structured personality profile useful for diagnostic clarity in complex presentations, treatment planning for personality-disorder-spectrum work, and forensic or pre-employment contexts. We use personality testing as part of broader batteries, not in isolation.

Achievement and Learning Disability Testing

Achievement testing — typically the WIAT-4 (Wechsler Individual Achievement Test) — measures academic skills across reading, math, and writing relative to expected level. Combined with cognitive testing, achievement testing supports learning disability diagnosis under DSM-5-TR criteria, which is the documentation most schools require for IEP planning.

ADHD-focused Testing

ADHD-focused testing is its own evaluation lane — structured ADHD evaluation with clinical interview, Conners-3 rating scales, executive function screening, and integration. For ADHD-specific evaluation, see our ADHD evaluations in Omaha page. For broader testing batteries that include ADHD as one diagnostic question among several, the comprehensive psychological evaluation is the right starting point.

OUR APPROACH

How we treat psychological testing at Thrivion.

Our approach to psychological testing is built on WAIS-IV / WISC-V cognitive testing, MMPI-3 and PAI personality assessment, achievement testing (WIAT-4), and validated diagnostic instruments — the modalities that the clinical research actually supports for this condition. In practice, that means structured, evidence-based work in our clinical approach.

We’re a coordinated team — every clinician at Thrivion Mental Wellness holds a Nebraska master’s-level license (LIMHP or LMHP). We’re not a directory of independent contractors. Your care doesn’t fall through the cracks when life gets complicated.

DBT and skills-based work integrate where psychological testing intersects with emotional dysregulation. We treat psychological testing across the lifespan: adults in individual therapy, kids and teens in child and adolescent therapy, and the relational layer in family therapy. Jeanine Amaro, LIMHP (Clinical Director, Family Systems) brings the relational lens that individual work alone doesn’t reach.

Testing answers the question. Therapy does the work.

HOW IT WORKS

How to get started with psychological testing therapy in Omaha.

Three steps from “I think I should reach out” to actually starting the work. No paperwork wall. No commitment until you decide.

01

Free 15-minute consult

Tell us what’s going on — what you’ve tried, how long you’ve been managing psychological testing on your own, and what you’d like life to actually feel like. We figure out who on the Thrivion team is the right fit. No forms, no pressure. The first conversation is free.

02

First session & clinical assessment

Session 1 of psychological testing therapy is about understanding your full picture — what’s presenting now, its history, what’s been tried before, and what you want your life to look like. We build the treatment plan from that, not from a generic protocol. We start where you are.

03

Consistent sessions, honest check-ins

Psychological testing therapy works through consistency. We typically meet weekly or every two weeks, and we re-evaluate progress every four to six sessions. You’ll always know where we are. If the work isn’t moving, we’ll say so and adjust.

FAQ

Psychological Testing & Evaluation in Omaha — your questions answered.

How long does the full testing process take?+

Typical comprehensive evaluation runs across 2-3 in-person sessions plus 10-14 business days for the report. Total elapsed time from first session to written report is typically 3-4 weeks.

Will I get medication from this?+

No. Thrivion is talk-therapy only — we don’t prescribe. The testing produces diagnostic clarity and a written report. If medication is on the table after the evaluation, we coordinate with trusted local prescribers who use the report as their diagnostic foundation.

Do you do forensic evaluations or custody evaluations?+

No — those are specialized forensic psychology services that require court-recognized credentials and different procedures. We refer out for custody evaluations, court-ordered competency evaluations, and disability hearings requiring expert testimony.

How is psychological testing different from ADHD evaluation?+

ADHD evaluation is focused on the ADHD diagnostic question specifically — structured ADHD-rating-scale-driven assessment. Comprehensive psychological testing is broader and includes cognitive, achievement, and/or personality instruments alongside diagnostic interpretation across multiple possible conditions. Many clients need broader testing; many just need ADHD-specific clarity. We help you figure out which is appropriate at the consult.

Is testing covered by insurance?+

Yes — psychological testing at Thrivion is in-network with Nebraska Total Care, Molina, and BCBS. Testing coverage varies more than therapy coverage; we verify your specific plan, deductible status, and any pre-authorization requirements before we begin.
