Our Process

OUR PROCESS

How Therapy Works at Thrivion.

A coordinated, family-systems practice — built for the long arc, not the quick episode.

No magic, no protocols. Just clinicians trained in the same lens, sharing supervision, and matched to clients by scope rather than directory roulette. The first conversation is free.

In-person in West Omaha or online across Nebraska. Aetna, BCBS, Cigna, United Healthcare, Nebraska Total Care, Molina, and Medicaid.

THE FRAME

Therapy works when the lens, the pace, and the relationship all line up.

Most therapy gets one of those right. The default in Omaha — a 60-day workplace EAP, a directory roulette, a solo practitioner with no team to coordinate with — rarely lines up all three. Thrivion was built differently.

One lens: family-systems, applied whether you’re here as an individual, a couple, a family, or a parent of a child in school. One pace: paced to your nervous system, never the calendar. One relationship: the clinician you start with is the clinician you stay with — and the rest of the team is in the room with them via shared supervision.

It’s not ok to be ok. The work is for people ready to stop pretending it is.

THREE THINGS WE DO DIFFERENTLY

What shapes every session.

Family-systems lens, always

Whether you walk in as an individual, a couple, or a family, the lens is the same: the system around you is part of the work. It’s what makes change hold.

Coordinated team, not parallel solos

Every clinician trains in the same lens, shares supervision, and talks to each other about cases when it helps the work. If your needs shift mid-arc, the handoff inside the practice is real.

Honest about scope — ours and yours

We’ll tell you what we’re good at, what we’re not, and when you’d be better served somewhere else. Referrals out are part of how we work — never a euphemism for losing a client.

THE PROCESS

From first call to first session — what actually happens.

1 · Reach out

Call (402) 266-6667 or use the contact page. We respond within one business day — usually the same day.

2 · Free 15-minute consult

A short phone call. No paperwork, no pressure. We ask 2–3 short questions about what brings you in and match you to the right clinician on the first call.

3 · First session

A 50–55 minute first session with your matched clinician. The pace is set by your nervous system, not a manualized protocol.

4 · The long arc

Weekly through the first 2–3 months for most clients, then we re-pace based on what the work calls for. We’re built for the long arc, not the quick episode.

WHAT WE DON’T DO

Scope, named honestly.

Thrivion is a talk-therapy practice. We don’t prescribe medication (we coordinate with prescribers who do). We don’t run psychological testing or ADHD evaluations (we refer to specialists we trust). We don’t do ABA (that’s a different therapeutic modality and a different practice).

What this means: when those needs come up — and they often do alongside therapy — we refer to people we trust by name. Honest referrals are part of the work, not an afterthought.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few things people ask about how it works.

Do I need a diagnosis or referral to start?
No. No diagnosis. No referral. Functioning but not flourishing is a good reason to begin.
How long does therapy take?
It depends on the work. Some clients move through a specific issue in 3–4 months. Others stay for the longer arc — identity work, grief, family-systems work that doesn’t move on a calendar. We re-pace honestly as the work shifts.
How do you match me to the right clinician?
The 15-minute consult asks 2–3 short questions about scope, fit, and what you’re looking for. Based on the answer, we recommend the clinician whose scope fits best. You can request a different match if the first feels off — no awkward.
What if I need to switch clinicians?
Because the team coordinates and shares supervision, internal switches are a real handoff — not starting over with a stranger. We’ll help arrange it directly.
In-person, telehealth, or both?
Both. Most clients blend depending on the week. Telehealth is for clients physically located in Nebraska during the session (no PSYPACT — Nebraska-licensed therapists are Nebraska-only).
What about medication or testing?
We don’t prescribe medication or do psychological testing. When those are part of your plan, we coordinate with the psychiatrist or evaluator. When you need a referral, we point to people we trust by name.
