DO YOU RECOGNIZE YOURSELF?
What chronic stress actually looks like — from the inside.
Stress management therapy — sometimes called stress management counseling, stress reduction therapy, or chronic stress therapy — rarely starts with a clean label. It starts with stress and anxiety bleeding into everything. Work stress therapy needs. Acute stress that won’t come down. The need for actual stress management techniques, not platitudes. Managing stress, stress relief, stress coping — whatever you call it, the body has been holding too much. Below are patterns clients bring us in the first 15 minutes.
Tension that doesn’t leave even on weekends
The shoulders. The jaw. The chest that’s been tight for months. Somatic regulation paired with mindfulness teaches the body how to come down — not just to know it should.
Sleep that won’t come or won’t hold
You’re tired. You can’t sleep. Or you sleep and wake at 3am. CBT-I (the gold-standard for chronic insomnia) addresses sleep beliefs and patterns; somatic work treats the body that won’t come down.
Stomach, jaw, neck, headaches that started months ago
The body is speaking the language available to it. The chronic tension you’ve been calling normal. Somatic awareness pairs with mindfulness-based stress reduction to address both layers.
Short fuse with the people you love
You’re patient at work. You’re patient with strangers. At home the fuse is short and you don’t recognize who it’s coming from. DBT and CBT address the depletion pattern that’s costing the relationships.
A body sending signals you keep ignoring
The headaches you push through. The stomach issues you medicate. The chest tightness you Google at 2am. Somatic awareness names what the body has been signaling — before the next stage of signal.
TYPES OF STRESS WE TREAT
Stress doesn’t arrive in just one shape.
Stress management therapy at Thrivion addresses chronic stress, work stress, acute stress (from a recent event), decision fatigue, caregiver stress, and the lifestyle stress that comes from running too many demanding roles at once. Each shape has its own pacing and protocol.
Chronic Stress
The kind that’s been there so long it feels like personality. Long-arc recovery with mindfulness and somatic work.
Work Stress
Demand from a role that won’t pause. Often the precursor to burnout. CBT plus practical boundary work.
Acute Stress
Stress from a recent event — medical, financial, relational, occupational. Time-limited focused work.
Decision Fatigue
The depletion specific to high-stakes roles. Cognitive recovery work and structural change.
Caregiver Stress
Running on others’ needs longer than is sustainable. Recovery that doesn’t require stopping caring.
Lifestyle Stress
Stress from the running-of-everything. Identity, structure, and pacing work.
You don’t need to be in crisis to deserve care. You don’t need a label to deserve growth.
Stress management therapy at Thrivion works the three layers together. Mindfulness-based stress reduction for the body and present moment. ACT for the values underneath the stress — what actually matters, when the demand is loud. CBT for the cognitive distortions stress amplifies. Somatic regulation for the body that’s been turned up so long it forgot how to come down. Behavioral activation for the things that used to refill you.
And underneath it — a family-systems lens. Stress almost always lives in a relational and systemic context: the workplace that demands more for less, the family that quietly relies on your over-functioning, the lifestyle that doesn’t build in recovery. Thrivion offers evidence-based stress treatment in Omaha. Our evidence-based approach works modality, system, and lifestyle together.
WHO WE WORK WITH
Adults whose stress has outlasted their tools.
Stress management therapy clients are adults in high-demand roles. We see individual therapy clients in leadership, healthcare, education, law, and entrepreneurship; new parents working through high-stress life-stages; caregivers managing long-arc demands; and adults whose lifestyle stress has become unsustainable.
High-demand professionals
Leadership, healthcare, education, law. Stress management that fits the role, not platitudes.
New parents
High-stress life-stages with the body still recovering. Held with care.
Caregivers
Long-arc caretaking demands. Recovery without leaving the role.
Adults near burnout
Chronic stress that hasn’t crossed into burnout yet. Catching it before it does.
Entrepreneurs & founders
The specific stress of building. Worked with people who get the operational reality.
Adults with stress + anxiety
When chronic stress has activated an anxiety pattern. Both layers worked together.

INSURANCE & COST
In-network — and honest about what therapy costs.
What’s between you and feeling better shouldn’t be a fee schedule. We’re in-network with the major Nebraska plans, including Nebraska Total Care, Molina Healthcare, and Blue Cross Blue Shield, plus Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, and Medicaid. For plans we don’t panel directly, we bill out-of-network benefits on your behalf.
Blue Cross Blue Shield
Nebraska Total Care
Molina Healthcare
In-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, United Healthcare, Nebraska Total Care, Molina, and Medicaid — additional plans accepted.
$0–$50 typical
Most in-network clients pay a copay between $0 and $50 per session. Intake verifies your exact cost before your first session — no surprises after.
Sliding-scale available
For clients without insurance or with high deductibles, a limited sliding-scale rate is available. Ask intake when you call — we figure it out together, no judgment.
No package upgrades
We don’t sell session packages, premium tiers, or wellness add-ons. The fee is the fee. When the work is done, the work is done.
YOUR CLINICAL TEAM
A coordinated team of master’s-level clinicians.
Five master’s-level clinicians, each with stress-treatment training. Intake matches you to the clinician whose work fits your specific shape — chronic work stress responds to different work than caregiver stress.
Master’s-level LIMHP and LMHP clinicians, family-systems lens, and a coordinated team — not a roster of independent contractors. Intake matches you to the clinician whose training fits what you’re working on. When needs shift, the team coordinates the hand-off internally so you’re not starting over with a stranger.

FAQ
A few things adults ask before starting stress management therapy.
Is stress really a therapy reason?
Yes. Chronic stress is one of the most treatable presentations in talk therapy. You don’t need a more serious label to deserve care. “I’m running too hot for too long” is enough.
How long does stress management therapy take?
Acute stress often responds within 6–10 sessions. Chronic stress takes longer-arc work, often 4–9 months. Your clinician gives you a sense after the first session or two.
Do you do medication for stress?
No. Thrivion is a talk-therapy practice. All clinicians are master’s-level LIMHP or LMHP, not prescribers. When medication is part of your plan, we coordinate with your prescriber.
Will my insurance cover stress therapy?
Insurance generally covers therapy when there’s an underlying clinical issue (anxiety, depression, adjustment disorder). We’re in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, United Healthcare, Nebraska Total Care, Molina Healthcare, and Medicaid. Most clients pay $0–$50 per session.
Will I have to meditate?
Mindfulness is one tool, not the only one. We work the modality mix that fits your nervous system — some clients respond to mindfulness; others respond more to CBT, somatic work, or behavioral changes.
In-person or telehealth?
Either. Many stress clients prefer telehealth for the lower threshold — one less thing to commute to. In-person is available. Most blend.
