WHO COMES TO CBT?
Most adults who choose CBT want evidence-based work.
CBT therapy — also called cognitive behavioral therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, CBT counseling, CBT treatment, or cognitive therapy — is the most research-supported talk therapy modality. CBT Omaha clients searching for a CBT therapist or evidence-based therapy want behavioral therapy with cognitive depth. CBT for anxiety, CBT for depression, and adapted CBT protocols for OCD, trauma, and insomnia are core specialties.
Cognitive loops you can’t out-think
The same worry, the same self-criticism, the same catastrophic forecast. Thinking harder doesn’t exit the loop. CBT cognitive restructuring tests the prediction — not by arguing with it, but by gathering evidence.
Beliefs about yourself, others, the world that cost you
The core beliefs that shape how you read every situation. CBT core-belief work names them, traces their origin, and tests them against your actual life now — not childhood.
Thoughts, feelings, and behavior locked into a cycle
The CBT triangle. The thought triggers the feeling triggers the behavior triggers the thought. CBT intervenes at all three points — not just the cognitive one.
Anxiety or depression that responds well to structured work
CBT is the most research-supported talk therapy modality. CBT for anxiety, CBT for depression, CBT-I for insomnia, CT-PTSD for trauma. Each protocol adapted to the presentation.
You want concrete tools, not just talking
Homework. Skill-building. Specific techniques you can practice between sessions. CBT is structured and explicit about the tools — not just the reflection.

INSURANCE & COST
In-network — and honest about what therapy costs.

We’re in-network with the major Nebraska plans, including Nebraska Total Care, Molina Healthcare, and Blue Cross Blue Shield, plus Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, and Medicaid. For plans we don’t panel directly, we bill out-of-network benefits on your behalf.

FAQ
A few things adults ask before starting CBT therapy.
Is all therapy CBT?
No. CBT is one of several evidence-based therapy modalities. At Thrivion we use CBT widely but also ACT, IFS, EFT, EMDR, family-systems work, and others depending on what fits.
How long does CBT take?
CBT is structured and time-limited compared to some modalities. Many clients see meaningful change within 8–16 sessions of focused CBT. Longer-standing or complex presentations run longer.
Is CBT just “positive thinking”?
No. CBT addresses unhelpful thought patterns with specific cognitive and behavioral techniques. It’s evidence-based, structured, and not about forcing positive thinking. We work the actual patterns, not the surface.
Will my insurance cover CBT?
Yes. We’re in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, United Healthcare, Nebraska Total Care, Molina Healthcare, and Medicaid. Most clients pay $0–$50 per session.
Can I do CBT online?
Yes. CBT translates well to telehealth. Many of our clients do CBT via secure video. See online therapy.
What if straight CBT doesn’t feel like enough?
We integrate CBT with ACT, IFS, and family-systems work when straight CBT alone isn’t hitting the depth needed. Many clients respond best to integrative CBT, not pure-protocol.
